Global Warming

I chose global warming as my topic because it is very important. It affects everyone on our planet, yet everyone is part of its creation. In the past century, the earth increased its temperature by about 1oF. That may not seem like a lot, but imagine, a few hundreds of centuries from now, the earth will be too hot to live in. If we don't do anything about it now, that may just be the case.
Global warming is a gradual increase in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere. It is caused when greenhouse gases are released into the earth's atmosphere. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere when waste, fuels, or wood is burned. It is also the air we breathe out. Methane is a colorless, odorless gas that burns easily. It is released during the transportation of coal, natural gas, or oil. Nitrous oxide is released during agricultural and industrial activities. It is a colorless gas that when inhaled, produces loss of sensibility to pain proceeded by exhilaration and sometimes laughter and is used in dentistry. Some powerful greenhouse gases, that don't occur very often, are hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).
The greenhouse effect helps global warming, but they are not the same thing. The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that the Earth experiences because greenhouse gases trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth's average temperature would be about 60∘F colder. Because of how they warm our world, these gases are referred to as greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect is important because without the greenhouse effect, the Earth would not be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it could make the Earth warmer than the average temperature. Even a little extra warming
