Alzheimer's cannot be stopped or turned around. The disease progresses until the person hasdifficulty speaking or functioning. The body's basic functions, such as breathing or digesting food, break down until the person enters a coma or dies. The damage in the victim's brain causes serious disability. Sometimes the disease progresses quickly and death results in 5 or 6 years, other times a person deals with the disease for as long as 20 years.Memory loss, problems with speech, poor judgment,difficulty performing familiar tasks and misplacing things are just some of the many symptoms people have when they have Alzheimer's. People with Alzheimer's also go through a dramatic personality change, their behavior or mood also changes, and they have rapid mood swings for not reason at all. With no cure for Alzheimer's, it's going to affect more and more people as the years pass.
